Jürgen Mayer becomes honorary chairman of maxon motor ag. This pick is a well-deserved reward for the excellent work that Jürgen has done for our company over more than 50 years.

When Jürgen Mayer arrived for his first day as a design engineer, at what was then the Interelectric Sachseln AG, many of today's maxon employees had not even been born yet. It was February 1, 1967. With personnel number 007, he went to work on developing and designing a pumice machine and contributed to motor development. These first developments were followed by many others.

With his excellent hard and soft skills, Jürgen Mayer quickly advanced in his career. In 1974, he was promoted to sales manager, then to vice director and finally, in 1985, to director of marketing and sales of the maxon group. Jürgen Mayer became a member and the speaker of the management board on September 1, 1992. In 1996, the board of directors appointed him as the chairman of the management board. From 2004 to 2006, Jürgen Mayer acted in the dual capacity of speaker and chairman of the board of directors. From 2006 to 2013, he was chairman of the board of directors, then vice chairman until mid-2019.

As a man of action, Jürgen Mayer significantly contributed to the success of maxon motor ag. He both challenged and supported his subordinates, and he always had a sympathetic ear for their problems. Innovative thinking, decisive action, thorough implementation – these are the qualities that characterize Jürgen Mayer. The positive influence of his presence will benefit maxon for many years to come.

Now, in his (un)restful retirement, Jürgen Mayer will have more time to enjoy his hobbies, such as painting, jazz, and good conversations with his family and friends. We wish Jürgen all the best, with happiness, enjoyment, and good health in the new phase of his life.
